A New Dawn. A New Day

The words above are from one of the most optimistic songs you’ll hear. If you don’t know it, do yourself a favour and have a listen. Seems appropriate for the new year, it might be a new dawn and a new day, but old crimes come to the surface. the links are for you to check things out if you want more info.

I’m sure you all know that ‘Anne’ the drama about the Hillsborough campaigner is being screened this week. I know it will be a heart-rending watch. There so many things have been said about the tragedy, but it’s important to recognise that people like Anne, campaigners and fighters, are the reason we make progress as a society, people who will not let go, not give up in their fight for justice.

This is the link to a blog by someone who was there that day, it tells the story of his interview with the police.

During the interview, they tried to intimidate and bully Nick into talking about drunken supporters and how they en masse jumped the turnstiles. I’ve got no doubt that interview was repeated a hundredfold and together with the media and the Tories they stitched up the narrative of drunken fans on the rampage.

Nick was interviewed by the West Midlands Serious Crime squad This was a police unit in the English West Midlands which operated from 1974 to 1989. It was disbanded after an investigation into allegations of incompetence and abuse of power on the part of some of the squad’s members.

Some of this misconduct resulted in wrongful convictions, including the high-profile case of the Birmingham Six. The sister Regional Crime Squad based at Bilston was responsible for the investigation of the Bridgewater Four.[1]https://en.wikipedia.org/…/West_Midlands_Serious_Crime…

Every death is a tragedy for the family involved, there is no hierarchy of grief. But when the supposed forces of law and order are involved in, support and enable the killing then they should pay the price, these victims deserve justice too.

The Glenanne gang were a loyalist paramilitary gang that has been linked to up to 120 murders and included some serving members of the police and security services. Collusion, cooperation, help and support is believed to have been provided by active members of the British Intelligence and security forces.

A new dawn and a new day would require the truth.
